Now is the time for you or your children to gather native tree seeds.
You can create a small tree nursery in your garden with a view to planting in the wild later.
Avoid sycamore which grows like a weed! Oak, beech and lime are best.
There is no point in planting ash keys with ‘ash die back’ in the area but your tree could replace a fallen ash in a few years time.
Walnut and Horse Chestnut are not native but are good for gardens.
