Village sign missing

The village sign on the bus stop seems to have been removed/stolen. Has anyone got any ideas or seen anyone removing it?

Work at Greenacres

Greenacres in Poynings have started a house extension works which will take about 12 to 18 months depending on weather conditions.  Part of the works are to put in a basement.  The equipment they’re going to need for this AND in order to allow the equipment to come through the back rather than the front of the house (nearer the village) needs its own road built to allow access.  This ‘road’ is currently being built across their wildflower meadow and is temporary.  The meadow will be reinstated at the completion of the works.

If anyone has any issues with the works or building contractors please contact Dean as he don’t wish the village to be disturbed.

You can contact Dean on 07887 943228

Dodgy white Van Man

This is the note from Hurstpierpoint Hub Facebook page.

Beware folks, just found someone of Eastern European origin walking into my back garden looking for scrap metal as he said it appeared we are having work done on our house. Claimed he was going to knock on the back door...after just walking past the front door! Couldn't understand why I was asking him to leave my property!

White van registration EW04 FWJ (possibly a character out). Keep your eyes peeled. Thanks.

I think I may have also seen this van driving round St Lawrence & Fairfield Cres this morning around 9.30am . White transit style van and the driver was wearing an orange high vis. He caught my eye as he was looking up drives as he drove down the road.

Yes, that's the one. We are down St Lawrence Way and yes he had a high vis jacket on. I reported to the police but got the number plate slightly out so they are going to see what they can do. Thanks

WSCC Household Waste Recycling consultation

Have your say on proposed changes to their Household Waste Recycling Sites (HWRS).

This consultation runs until 12 June.

They are proposing changes to save around £2million, because the County Council continues to be faced by significant reductions to the funding it receives from central government, which along with your council tax, pays for the services they provide.

Proposals include reduced opening hours and days for some HWRS and stopping the mobile service.
