A Community Speedwatch Group is being set up in Poynings.
Would you like to join this group? It is being led by Parish Councillor Neville Searle.
Community Speedwatch operates with a group of local volunteers who after training and with specialist equipment, record excess speed of vehicles. The information is passed to the police who will then deal directly with the person responsible.
The volunteers’ work is not confrontational and the number of occasions and locations used depend on local circumstances and the number of volunteers. The police issue warning notices to those driving too fast. Repeat offenders become liable to prosecution by the police.
