Poynings Village Fete

THANK YOU to everyone from the village and beyond who helped to make the garden fete last Saturday such a happy event.

We raised about £1800 for the church – a terrific result which will help to pay the bills.

But the main thing was that it seemed to be a relaxed afternoon, with lots of people – especially children – having fun.

We are really grateful to all who contributed in any way: selling, buying, golfing, baking, singing, netballing, maypole dancing, puppet showing, drinking, serving or eating cream teas, putting up tents and chairs, smacking the rat, car parking, selling and buying raffle tickets – or just laughing and chatting! A lovely sunny afternoon. A big thank you to all involved.

Lambs – Meeting about Mayfield

Dear All.

Tomorrow’s meeting about Mayfield.   20th June, 7.30pm,  at St Paul’s School, Burgess Hill is our chance to voice our opposition for Mayfields’ plans for a new town which could be anywhere between Hurstpierpoint and Henfield.  The speakers are Anthony Watts Williams (chair of LAMBS), Kenneth McIntosh (Hands Off Henfield) and both our MPs, Nick Herbert and Sir Nicholas Soames.

The Question and Answer session will be a real opportunity for locals to get answers and we are delighted to confirm the panel will include:

Norman Webster – Councillor in Charge of Planning, Mid Sussex District Council

Brian O’Connell – Chairman, Horsham District Council

Dr Roger Smith – CPRE Sussex

Dr A Whitbread – Chief Executive, Sussex Wildlife Trust

We look forward to seeing you tomorrow evening and thank you for your valuable and vital support.  Please encourage all those who will be affected by Mayfields to attend.

Mayfield Development

There have been several reports from residents who have been asked to participate in a housing opinion telephone poll.  Participants have raised concerns about the wording of the questions which they feel are extremely misleading. It has been confirmed that this poll has been commissioned by a company called Meeting Place Communications which has members of Mayfields on its staff.   Please be extremely wary if you receive the call and view this link for the whole story.
